A collaboration with Serafina Steer and Catherine Carter who are both makers of new music. The project captures the process of them creating and performing contemporary music together without the constraints of the classical performance world.
The Post Office
The first of Catherine and Sefa's experiments is a trip from Sefa's house in Tottenham to Haringey Post Office on Green Lanes. They busked one composition by Catherine, one by Sefa, and one by Ian Chambers, with some John Cage thrown in for good measure. It took several hours and covered the distance of under 1 mile. It was touch and go, but they made it.
The second trip was to Norfolk where Catherine and Sefa made it across fields and ancient burial mounds to the seaside, singing all the way. Sefa had a broken wrist and Catherine had a 3 month old baby. I had made them some smoke bomb filled mushroom hats as a portable energy source; when we finally set them off in a dogging site off the M11, we accidentally conjured a Sex Forest Witch.
